Kate’s numerous plays have been performed locally, nationally, and internationally. 

NOVEMBER WOMEN was the winner of the 2012 Philadelphia Ethical Society’s Playwriting Competition, was a finalist at the LoveCreek Festival, NYC, and received innumerable international and U.S. productions from Canada (Edmonton Fringe Festival) to Ireland, Kazakhstan, and beyond.  

SEAFOOD, with music by Charles Pettee, was selected as Best Play of North Carolina, produced by the Perihelion Theatre Company, and was a finalist at Boston’s Theatre In Process National Playwriting Competition. WAITING FOR RAIN was produced by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as the winner of their annual playwriting competition. Kate is a co-author of   MELTING, a play created through the collaboration of seven playwrights from all over the U.S. WHAT WANDA WANTS was produced by City Paper and the Philadelphia Dramatists Center at the 2004 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. BLUEBIRD OF HAPPINESS was produced at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival in Represented Theatre Company’s Girl on Gurl.

Kate was the 2013-14 Philadelphia Dramatists Center Playwright in Residence at IronAge Theatre.  The residency culminated in a production of her play UP FROM THE ASHES at the Independent Voices Festival 2014, and at Off Broad Street Theatre in Philadelphia, featuring Philly favorite Isa St. Clair and directed by John Doyle.  

A SUDDEN BURST OF INACTIVITY, featuring Sue Giddings and directed by Michelle Pauls, was produced at the 2013 Independent Voices Festival.

Other Philadelphia area productions include:  Colonial Quickies 2013 (OVERBITE), Celebration Theatre’s GirlTalk 2012 and 2013 (HOW TO FOLD, LOSS OF BELLE), Walking Fish Theatre’s Fresh Fish 2.0 (PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER directed by Ozzie Jones), St. Joseph’s University’s Women’s Place Theatre (NOVEMBER WOMEN& LEROY LOVES LORETTA), The Ritz Theatre in Oaklyn, NJ (LULU AND GIGI), The Brick Playhouse (GETTING SASHA, LESSON PLAN), Fictitious Theatre Company (THE WRITING PARTNER), and three productions at Community Education Center’s Holiday Tales. Her plays have been developed at Hedgerow Theatre (FALLING OFF), PDC’s Primary Stages (HOW TO FOLD, GETTING SASHA, THE BLANKET, TACO THURSDAY, CUE THE SNOW) The Blue Grotto Series (THE PLAYDATE) and The Painted Bride Bridal Salon (FUNNYMAN, THE BIRD LADY.) Her full-length play ALBATROSS received Honorable Mention from Philadelphia Theatre Workshop. Her one-acts MOTHER’S DAY and IMITATE THE SUN are published online at Youth Plays.

As a creator of original solo pieces, Kate has performed throughout the region. Her one-woman show THIS IS MY PLACE was featured in the nationally curated Women’s Theatre Festival at The Painted Bride, and she has performed other solo original work (BELOVED, UNPACKING) at the Women in Performance Festivals produced by Women Theatre, Inc., Glue Performance Series, the Delaware 10 Minute Play Festival produced by City Theatre, and the CEC. At Villanova University, she performed five of her solo pieces under the title THRESHOLDS.
